NTA has successfully conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on September 12, in online mode. The NEET 2024 result is expected to be declared by October 28, 2021. NEET is conducted annually to provide entrance to M.B.B.S and BDS courses in medico and dental institutions across the country.

Last year, NEET received 11,38,890 registrations for entrance to approximately 90,000 M.B.B.S and BDS seats on offer. This year, 13.26 lakh candidates have registered for NEET as per data shared by the NTA. Earlier, the admit card of NEET was made available for all candidates, including those from NIOS/open schools and those above the upper age limit as per the interim order of the Delhi High Court on April 26, 2018.

As per the final judgement passed by the Delhi High Court on May 11, 2018, candidates from NIOS and open schools are eligible for entrance through NEET but those above the upper age limit have been barred.

The counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and seats in all Deemed and Central Universities will be conducted by the (MCC). For entrance to 85% State Quota seats, the respective states will conduct their own counselling. Only those candidates who qualify NEET by scoring minimum required cutoff will be eligible to participate in the M.B.B.S /BDS entrance counselling process.

To qualify NEET UG, candidates from general category will be required to score equal to or more than the 50th percentile and those belonging to reserved categories (OBC/SC/ST) will be required to get at least 40th percentile. ( Direct MBBS Admission in MGM Medical College Navi Mumbai )

NEET Counselling:  ( Direct MBBS Admission in MGM Medical College Navi Mumbai )

The (MCC) and various state counselling authorities will conduct the counselling of NEET after the declaration of the NEET result. The result of NEET 2024 held on September 12, will be declared by October 28.

Candidates will need to register separately with different counselling authorities for participating in the NEET counselling process. The responsibility of the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be limited to conducting NEET, declaring the result and providing the All India Ranks and marks of candidates to the various counseling authorities at national and state level. 

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on behalf of the (MCC), will conduct the NEET counseling for entrance to 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in Government medicinal and dental institutes across all states (except J&K), 100% seats in Deemed and Central universities, seats reserved for Wards of Insured Persons (IP quota) in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medico institutes and seats at the Armed Forces medico institutes (AFMC), Pune.

NEET counseling for the remaining 85% state quota seats (100% in case of J&K) in Government medico and dental institutes and seats in other private and self-financing institutions in all states will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities.

Only those candidates who qualify NEET by scoring the minimum qualifying percentile will be called for counselling of NEET. Candidates will need to score a minimum of 50th percentile (40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General – PH) in order to qualify NEET and become eligible for NEET counselling and entrance.

The counselling of NEET will be conducted by the DGHS for AIQ seats in two rounds and for Deemed and Central universities in three rounds. The first round of NEET counselling for AIQ and Deemed/Central universities will be tentatively conducted November 2021.
