Dr. DY Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, was established in the year 1996. It was Dr. PD Patil, Chancellor, Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune’s vision and desire to set up one of the best College, Hospital and Research Centre in Maharashtra and across the country.

Dr. DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre is a constituent unit of Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, which is a NAAC re-accredited Vidyapeeth with 3.62 CGPA out of 4 scale at A Grade in the year 2015 (2nd Cycle) and ISO 9001:2008 certified and ISO 9001-2015 certified ‘Deemed to be University.’
Dr. DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, has been accorded the status of University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No. F. 9-39/2001-U.3 dated 11th January 2003 by the Government of India.
Initially, the Institute commenced with 100 seats for the MBBS course which was the annual intake. It is the first private College in the State of Maharashtra to receive approval of National Medical Commission, formerly Medical Council of India (MCI) and Government of India.
Within a short span of time, the intake capacity for MBBS Course has been increased from 100 to 150 students in 2003 and from 150 to 250 in 2012.
